Individual therapy for the things you carry quietly.
You can be getting through your days, taking care of responsibilities, and showing up for the people around you while still feeling anxious, exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself.
Individual therapy gives you space to slow down, talk honestly about what’s going on, and work through the things that have been weighing on you.
The Empowering Space provides virtual individual therapy for eligible clients throughout Texas, Ohio, California & Michigan
Maybe life looks fine from the outside.
You’re going to work.
You’re getting through classes.
You’re taking care of your family.
You’re meeting deadlines.
You’re answering messages.
You’re doing what needs to be done.
But underneath all of that, you may feel exhausted, anxious, stuck, disconnected, or like your mind never really gets a break.
Therapy doesn’t have to begin with a crisis.
Sometimes it begins with realizing you don’t want to keep feeling this way.
A space to work through what's affecting you.
People come to individual therapy for many different reasons. You may be dealing with:
Anxiety & Overthinking
Your mind rarely seems to switch off.
You replay conversations, think through every possible outcome, or find yourself worrying even when everything seems okay.
Burnout & Overwhelm
You're tired of always pushing through.
Responsibilities keep piling up, and even rest doesn't always feel like enough.
Trauma & Difficult Experiences
Something from your past may still affect how you feel, respond, trust, connect, or move through everyday life.
Boundaries & People-Pleasing
You spend so much time considering what everyone else needs that it can be difficult to recognize—or communicate—what you need.
Relationship Stress
You may be struggling with communication, trust, recurring patterns, loneliness, conflict, or uncertainty about a relationship.
Identity & Self-Understanding
You may be questioning who you are, what you want, what matters to you, or how different parts of your identity fit together.
Parenting & Caregiving Stress
Taking care of other people can leave very little room for your own emotions and needs.
Work, School & Life Stress
Deadlines, expectations, responsibilities, and pressure can become difficult to manage even when you're still getting everything done.
Life Transitions
Career changes, graduation, relationships, parenthood, relocation, loss, or other changes can leave you trying to figure out what comes next.
Feeling Disconnected From Yourself
Sometimes there isn't one obvious problem.
You simply don't feel like yourself anymore.

The common thread isn’t a job title.
It’s often the experience of carrying a lot, continuing to function, and realizing that something internally needs attention too.
You don’t need to fit into a particular category to benefit from therapy.
The right therapist matters.
Therapy is personal.
The therapist who works well for someone else may not necessarily be the person who feels right for you.
That’s why The Empowering Space offers a therapist-matching process designed to help you explore clinicians based on factors such as:
- What you’d like support with
- Your state
- Insurance or payment option
- Availability
- Service needs
- Therapist preferences, where applicable
- Licensed therapist or supervised intern preference

Individual Therapy FAQs
If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or just a persistent feeling that something’s off — therapy is for you. You don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to benefit. If you’re not sure, book a free 15-minute consultation and we’ll help you figure it out together.
It depends on what you’re working through. Some clients feel significant relief in 8 to 12 sessions. Others work with us for months or years as they go deeper. Your therapist will regularly check in with you about your progress and adjust the plan accordingly.
Yes — research consistently shows that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and most other mental health concerns. For many clients, the privacy and convenience of online sessions actually make it easier to open up.
We’re in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Magellan, UnitedHealthcare, Lyra, and BWS Health. Many clients pay only their standard copay. Private pay rates are also available. Visit our Pricing & Insurance page or contact us and we’ll verify your coverage before your first session.
Therapy is a clinical, licensed process that addresses mental health conditions and their underlying causes. Coaching is goal-focused and not regulated in the same way. At The Empowering Space, our individual therapy is conducted by licensed mental health professionals — not coaches. We also offer coaching services separately if that’s a better fit for your goals.
It happens, and it’s okay. Fit matters. If you don’t feel like your therapist is the right match, let us know and we’ll help you transition to someone else on our team at no additional charge.

What is individual therapy?
Individual therapy is one-on-one support between you and a therapist.
Sessions give you a private space to talk through what you’re experiencing, understand patterns in your thoughts, emotions, or relationships, and work toward changes that feel meaningful to you.
How do I know if individual therapy is right for me?
You don’t need to be in crisis to consider therapy.
Individual therapy may be helpful if you’re dealing with anxiety, overthinking, burnout, trauma, relationship stress, difficulty setting boundaries, identity concerns, parenting or caregiving stress, major life changes, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself.
You can also come to therapy without knowing exactly what’s wrong. Sometimes knowing that something doesn’t feel right is enough reason to start exploring.
What can I talk about in individual therapy?
Whatever is affecting you.
That might include:
- Anxiety or overthinking
- Burnout and overwhelm
- Trauma or difficult past experiences
- Relationships
- Family dynamics
- Work or school stress
- Parenting or caregiving
- Identity
- Boundaries
- Self-esteem
- Major decisions
- Life transitions
- Feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself
You and your therapist can decide together what feels most important to work on.
What happens during the first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other.
You may talk about what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, what you’d like support with, and what you hope might feel different.
You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out or know exactly what to say.
