About Me
My name is Cassandra Fields, but I also go by my nickname, Lizzy. I am an LPC Associate, under the supervision of Brandi Sawyer, LPC-S.
I graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler. While going for my degree, I interned at The East Texas Crisis Center. Working there was an amazingly rewarding experience and greatly impacted my approach to counseling. I gained an in-depth understanding of trauma-informed therapy. In my sessions, I integrate a variety of elements from counseling theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Narrative Therapy.
I believe that there are useful exercises from each of these that can help clients gain a better understanding of themselves. Emotions, thoughts, relationships, perceptions, family background, and so much more are all interrelated and important to keep in mind.
I use psychoeducational material to let my clients know that they aren’t “weird” or alone in what they’re going through. I strive to create a judgement-free environment where my clients feel safe to explore their feelings. I feel that every client is unique and deserves to be heard.
In my off time, I enjoy listening to music, spending time with my family, and engaging in creative endeavors such as drawing and writing. I am a big fan of animated shows and musicals in particular because there are many different perspectives and experiences expressed through these mediums.
