Therapy is focused on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, often rooted in the past. Coaching is future-focused, goal-oriented, and not considered medical or mental health care. Coaching doesn’t involve diagnosis or treatment, and may be more appropriate for clients looking for personal growth rather than clinical support.
Yes, but not with the same provider. To avoid dual relationships and ensure ethical care, therapy and coaching services must be kept separate and may not be delivered by the same clinician.
No, coaching is a private-pay service and not reimbursable by insurance providers.
Coaching is great for people who are high-functioning but want to make meaningful changes in their personal or professional lives. If you’re unsure whether coaching or therapy is the better fit, we’re happy to help you decide.
Typically, coaching is not eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement, but you should check with your plan administrator to confirm.
