Learn More About Therapy With Me
Life does not happen in a vacuum. Stress, relationships, responsibilities, health, transitions, and the environments around us can all affect how we feel and how we move through the world. Therapy can offer a space to step back, understand what you are experiencing, and explore supportive ways forward.
As a social work intern, I strive to create a compassionate, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where we can navigate life’s challenges together. I want you to feel respected and free from judgment while having the space to talk openly about what you are experiencing.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, body image concerns, caregiving responsibilities, athletic pressure, or another life challenge, my goal is to work at your pace and support you in recognizing your strengths and developing approaches that feel right for you.
About Emma Martin, MSW Intern
Hi y’all! My name is Emma Martin, and I am a graduate-level student clinician pursuing my Master of Social Work at the University of South Florida.
From a young age, I knew that I wanted to become a therapist and help others through personal connection. During my undergraduate studies, I pursued a traditional psychology degree, but I realized I was missing an important piece: seeing a person as a whole. Life does not happen in a vacuum, and obstacles, challenges, and systemic barriers can all influence a person’s mental well-being.
I have experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate life’s hurdles, and I want to offer support and tools for working through those difficult times. As a retired competitive athlete, I learned about the intense nature of mental blocks, burnout, disordered eating, and chronic pain. My experience with the elderly community has also given me insight into the self-care, patience, and commitment involved in caring for aging loved ones.
I prioritize a compassionate, empathetic, client-centered space that does not add to the anxiety you may already be feeling. I hope to support you in recognizing your abilities and strengths and exploring ways to address the challenges you are facing. I want to work at your pace and let you decide where our conversation takes us.
Outside of my clinical training, I am happiest outdoors. I am an avid gardener, hiker, whitewater rafter, camper, and birdwatcher, and I enjoy anything that helps me reconnect with nature. On most days, that simply means spending time on the front porch with all my dogs.
