Verifying Your Mental Health Coverage
To determine if you have mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, it is suggested you contact your insurance carrier to determine benefit coverage, and identify any co-pay, deductibles, or co-insurance that might be applicable. Here are some questions to ask your provider:
- May I have a reference number and the name of the person I’m speaking with?
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible, and has it been met?
- How many therapy sessions are covered each year?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Is approval from my primary care physician required?
- Does my plan cover online or web-based therapy sessions?
- Are there any specific requirements, such as coverage limitations or services contracted through third-party providers like Teledoc or MDLive?
While The Empowering Space will verify your benefits as a courtesy, it’s important to note that clients are responsible for knowing and verifying their own coverage. Any balance not covered by insurance remains the client’s responsibility.
