Hello my name is Flor Ochoa. I am bilingual and speak English and Spanish. I am an advanced UTA student pursuing my master’s in social work. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Central Texas with my bachelor’s in social work in December 2023. During my time as an undergraduate, I volunteered within the community. I recognized the critical importance of providing individuals and families with access to essential resources, particularly in mental health. The ability to address mental health needs not only enhances individual well-being but also fosters a more resilient and supportive community overall.

I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including homeless individuals, undocumented individuals, and others facing barriers to affordable healthcare access. In this role, I gained invaluable experience addressing these groups’ unique challenges when seeking essential health services. I practice self-care regularly during my free time, including reading from my Kindle, walking with my dog, watching football, and spending time with family.

My interest lies in the relationship between the human brain and mind and how these two elements shape behavior, cognition, and emotions. I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of human nature and to improve the lives of individuals facing mental and cognitive challenges. My goal is to provide support, empathy, empowerment and to create a safe place during your mental health journey.
